hoops ramblings

Late night ramblings

Quick thoughts...

- So happy that the NBA has started up again! My two fantasy drafts will be taking place this weekend and next, so I'll have some real-live season data on which to base my rankings.

- The Warriors are extremely sloppy, but extremely explosive. I'm sure every Warriors fan got his heart stuck in his throat when Baron pulled up lame in the first game, but hopefully it's a minor strain. Taft looked like a solid backup and might already be more effective all-around than Foyle. But, please trade Murphy.

- The Spurs look very solid already. One weakness last year was the lack of reliable scoring if Duncan or Ginobili were off their games. Now, both Van Exel and Finley can create their own shots. Watching the Spurs take apart the Nuggets was simply delightful - all the new players have bought into the system, unlike the Heat in tonight's game against Indy.

- We now have cable TV at the house. Come one, come all to get your fill of hoops, football, and assorted other shows.

- 4 more episodes of Lost before I'm caught up... after that in the queue is "Firefly," then a bunch of movies.

- "Alias" this season has been surprisingly not bad. While the storylines aren't original anymore, the new characters aren't horrible and there's continuity from episode to episode, which was sorely lacking at the beginning of last season.

Random list for this post: places and things I regularly eat for lunch during the work week (typically at least once every 2-3 weeks):
falafel - $5 (The Castle)
ham and cheese sandwich and salad - $4.50 (Cisco cafeteria in my building)
Subway - $2.50 (Daily Special on honey oat, no mayo, pickles, or jalapenos)
carnitas taco and quesadilla - $4.50 (Taqueria Los Cunados)
cheeseburger protein style with grilled onions, fries lite - $3.20 (In'N'Out Burger)
Baja burrito or quesadilla - $6 or $4.50 (Baja Fresh)

We also go to a fair number of buffets, which basically count as 1.5-1.75 meals for that day (very light dinner in the evening):
Sweet Tomatoes (salad buffet) - favorite items: clam chowder, salad w/o dressing, and blueberry muffins
Hometown Buffet (American style) - favorite items: sausage with sauerkraut, baked beans, fried fish
Grand Indian Buffet (formerly Sneha) - favorite items: chili chicken, chicken tikka (red sauce), saag paneer (spinach), mango ice cream
