Bizarro world
One of the highlights of my morning commute is coming up on a turn off of highway 280 and seeing downtown San Jose silhouetted against the hills ringing Silicon Valley. For most of the past half year, the hills have been a fairly uniform brown... but these past few weeks we've been getting an increased level of rainfall, resulting in a green backdrop that's quite nice. It always throws my Missouri-native coworkers off, having green grass in "winter" and brown hills in the summer. Actually, around them I'm forbidden from using the word "winter" to refer to these months, because according to them, there are only 2 seasons in Cali - spring and summer. Right now we're in spring.
What a bizarre place California is. I love it.
